Why preventive home maintenance matters

Your home doesn’t have a dashboard light.

Your home is probably your largest investment. But unlike your car, it doesn’t come with a maintenance schedule or a reminder when something needs attention.

Filters get dirty. Dryer vents collect lint. Condensate drains clog. Small leaks go unnoticed. Batteries die. Appliances need routine care. These tasks are easy to forget until they become bigger, more expensive problems.

Johnny Sherpa helps you stay ahead of them.

Small tasks. Big consequences.

Take care of what you own—and catch changes early.

Preventive maintenance is not about constantly finding things wrong. It is about handling recurring care before a small issue becomes an expensive surprise.

Dryer vents

Lint can restrict airflow, reduce performance and create a fire hazard. The U.S. Fire Administration reports that failure to clean was the leading factor in 31% of home clothes-dryer fires from 2018–2020.

Johnny Sherpa can document the exhaust configuration and its maintenance history—not simply check a box that says it was cleaned.

Water leaks

A developing leak can hide beneath a sink, behind an appliance or near mechanical equipment. EPA WaterSense estimates that household leaks can waste about 9,400 gallons per family each year.

We focus on vulnerable areas and can help homeowners incorporate leak-detection technology where appropriate.

Available Water-Loss Detection Service

We help establish and maintain a water-loss detection system throughout your home, perform scheduled testing and verify that configured alerts are received at the time of testing.

Equipment and installation are customized to the home and quoted separately. Sensors, internet connections, third-party notification services and shutoff equipment cannot prevent or detect every water loss.

HVAC systems

A dirty or clogged filter can sharply reduce airflow, increasing equipment run time, motor wear and energy consumption.

Johnny Sherpa records the filter sizes and replacement history so the right maintenance happens at the right time.

Appliances and safety devices

Washer filters, dishwasher filters, smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, sump pumps and leak sensors all need routine attention.

Scheduled care helps these systems work as intended and makes neglected maintenance easier to spot.

Your home has hundreds of things to remember

Most homeowners cannot answer every maintenance question.

They shouldn’t have to.

From reactive to preventive

A different way to care for your home.

The reactive cycle

Something breaks → Find someone → Pay the bill

Maintenance begins only after the home has already demanded attention.

The Johnny Sherpa approach

Know → Maintain → Document → Watch → Act early

Routine tasks are handled, the home’s history stays organized and changes are easier to recognize.

Johnny Sherpa is not a substitute for a licensed electrician, plumber, HVAC technician, home inspector or other specialist. When something falls outside our preventive-maintenance scope, we tell you and help clarify when a specialist may be needed.

Your home should have a maintenance record

Cars have service records. Aircraft have maintenance logs. Your home deserves better than a folder of receipts.

Johnny Sherpa is building a living digital record of your home—documenting its systems, equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance.

Over time, it can include HVAC equipment and filter sizes, appliances, model and serial numbers, manuals, warranties, maintenance and repair history, contractors, paint colors, flooring, photos, leak sensors, dryer-exhaust configuration and other important information.

The longer you own your home, the more valuable that record becomes.
